What's the problem?

Most likely: 2-stroke engine cranks but won't start or only fires briefly

Most likely: Engine runs fine at idle but bogs down or stalls when load is applied

Most likely: 2-stroke loses power, won't rev, or seizes — piston scoring from lean running

Most likely: Blue-gray smoke from exhaust — oil is burning in the cylinder

Most likely: Engine RPM goes up and down repeatedly — won't hold steady idle

Most likely: Visible fuel drip, wet patch, or persistent gasoline smell when parked

Most likely: Turn key/press button — nothing, or just a click; no engine rotation

Most likely: Engine starts, runs 2-10 seconds, then dies — may restart and repeat

Most likely: Starts fine cold, but won't restart after running until it cools 20–30 minutes

Most likely: Abnormal exhaust smoke at idle or load

Most likely: Engine backfires — pop through carb or bang through muffler

Most likely: Engine makes a knocking, tapping, or rattling noise — may be constant or under load

Most likely: New or worsening vibration through the handles, numb hands after short use
